ILENE & MICHAEL SHAW YOUNGER LAWYER PUBLIC SERVICE GRANTMade possible by the generous contributions of Ilene and Michael Shaw, a grant of $2,500 is made available each year to FBA chapters. The grant enables an FBA chapter to provide service to the public through the development and implementation of public service projects and pro bono law-related services. To encourage an increased and continued commitment to public service responsibilities by young lawyers, these projects are to be administered under the auspices of a Younger Lawyers Committee. Younger lawyers are those under the age of 36 or those admitted to practice less than three year. All FBA chapters are strongly encouraged to apply. Applications are reviewed by a panel of five judges. Each judge evaluates applications individually and the total score determines the winner. The panel consists of the FBA president, YLD Chair and three federal judges. The grant will be presented to the winners during the President's Dinner at the FBA National Convention. All those interested in participating should contact program chairs, Jonathan Tobin (617-365-3900) or Ashley Hurst (404) 420-4617. The deadline for nominations is August 2, 2007. However, if you plan to apply and need additional time, please contact us immediately at 202-785-1614. Send your completed application to Federal Bar Association, Attn: YLD Shaw Grant, 2215 M Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20037 |
